Traffic Crashes on the Rise in Arizona
I recently posted a couple of articles on social media, if you missed them you can check them out below.
“After steady declines over the last four decades, highway fatalities last year recorded the largest annual percentage increase in 50 years. And the numbers so far this year are even worse. In the first six months of 2016, highway deaths jumped 10.4 percent, to 17,775, from the comparable period of 2015, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.”
Another article I posted identified Phoenix in the top 10 most dangerous cities for speed related fatalities. Driving seems to be becoming more and more dangerous as folks continue to drive distracted and at dangerously high speeds. We cannot teach our children that it is okay to go above the speed limit because it IS the #1 cause of teen car crashes along with the #1 distraction – passengers in their vehicles. Click here to learn more about the Top 10 cities in the U.S. for speed related fatalities.
The statistics are alarming and unfortunately Arizona does not fare well. Parents, think carefully about how you are preparing your teenager for the responsibility of driving. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to take the time and effort required to make sure they know how to handle today’s roadways. Passing a 10 or 15 minute test at the MVD is NO indication that they are really ready to tackle the crazy out there.
