There is growing evidence that teen drivers diagnosed with Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have more collisions than teen drivers without ADHD. Often times parents of adolescents with ADHD find it very difficult to work with their student in developing the skills and the behaviors necessary to become safe and responsible drivers. Students with ADHD and other co-morbidities such as Anxiety, OCD, Panic Disorder present even more challenges and the DrivingMBA staff works closely with students and parents to develop appropriate strategies to address a student’s specific needs.
We begin the process for an Exceptional Learner in a 1:1 Driving Fundamentals Simulation Lab lesson. DrivingMBA has Specialist Trainers on staff that will be assigned to your student. They will provide a parent or guardian with a recommendation as to whether a student is ready to begin the process of learning how to drive and a plan for moving forward. This gives a family the opportunity to decide if the timing is right for them. Click here for a letter to parents regarding exceptional learner students. It is imperative that parents understand the commitment required from both the student and their support system. Call our Enrollment Counselor today at 480-948-1648 to learn more.

This package has been specifically adapted for exceptional learner students. We will begin with a single 1:1 lesson with one of our specialists to truly assess where the student is, if the timing for driver training is appropriate and whether or not the appropriate support system is in place. Once we have completed the evaluation, students may complete the Driving Fundamentals Simulation Lab 1:1 with one of DrivingMBA’s specialists.
This provides the student the attention necessary to help them begin to develop skills. This package does not include the Defensive Driving classroom or simulation labs as a student may take years before they are ready for that type of training. If the student does not have their permit this package may include an adaptive permit class , consisting of 1 to 4 students in order to provide a more tactile and customized approach to the classroom. This class is designed to prepare a student for the test at the MVD. This class does not provide a waiver for the written test at the MVD.
On road instruction is sold in increments of 1 or 2 lessons at a time as DrivingMBA Specialists will continue to instruct and assess a students ability and readiness for the responsibility of driving. Exceptional learners require a great deal of time and commitment to develop this skill. The amount of time a student will take to gain the necessary skills is unknown as every student is different and learns at a different pace. IF a student accumulates a minimum of 12 hours of on-road instruction DrivingMBA can issue a waiver to waive the license test at the MVD if the student passes DrivingMBA’s final evaluation.
