Technology Solutions for Keeping Teen’s Safe While Driving

MobileTattleTale is an application that is set up on a teenager’s phone.  When a teenage driver is moving faster than 20 mph (or a speed determined by the parent), MobileTattleTale sends a warning message to the parents or temporarily disables the ability to text or email until the automotive slows down under 20 MPH. Parents can set up the app to text them when their teenage driver tries to disable Mobile Tattletale as well. Mobile Tattletale also has a passenger mode which allows the parent to temporarily suspend the application if their teenager needs access to their texts.  Click here to learn more.

Mobiloc blocks texting when the vehicle carrying the phone goes over 10 mph for 20 seconds. After an idle or stop period of 20 seconds, the texting application will be allowed to be accessed. During the time the phone is in motion, all texts will continue to be received in the background and will be fully accessible once the phone is stopped.  Click here to learn more.

Textecution™ is a user-friendly application that completely disables texting while driving. Textecution™ is designed for parents to install on their teenage driver’s phone so they know their child is safer behind the wheel of the vehicle.  Click here to learn more.

Driver's Texting Disabler

Driver’s Texting Disabler

Hammacher Schlemmer – This system prevents drivers from texting, accessing email, and web browsing on a smartphone while the car is moving. A palm-sized transmitter plugs into a car’s OBD-II port under the dashboard and connects via Bluetooth to a free app on the driver’s phone. The app prevents the use of distracting smartphone software when the car is moving yet enables full access when stationary. Winner of the Design and Innovations Award at the Consumer Electronics Show, the system allows drivers to make hands-free calls and listen to music while the car is moving. If the device is removed from the vehicle’s OBD-II port (standard in automobiles manufactured after 1996), an email is automatically sent to a designated parent or guardian.  Click here for more information.
